Lord, Who Am I?

Lord, who am I?
I feel so insecure, so confused, so afraid...
But who am I, Lord?
The mistakes I make
Tend to overrule the good that I do
They loom large, standing tall to mock and rule
My every thought, imagination and all.
So, who am I, Lord?

You are my daughter!
I have bought you with a price
I have chosen you before time began...
To love you with a never-ending love,
To be with you--never to leave and never forsake.

You are My child, My precious child.
I see you when you hurt,
I understand those tears, the anger at your self,
Your strivings and your struggles.

And as I watch, My daughter,
My heart reaches down to you -
My arms of love are placed around about
Loving, protecting, and caring for you.

Sometimes in your distress you do not
Sense My love.
You turn your back, and say, “No, Lord, not that.”

But my daughter, I love you.
And I will wait - I will wait while you
Struggle and strive
And when they cease
You will know again My love, My joy,
And My peace...
